Il countdown è cominciato, manca meno di una settimana agli MTV Video Music Awards 2014 che saranno trasmessi in diretta su tutti i canali di MTV domenica 24 agosto dal Forum di Inglewood, in California. In Italia l’evento sarà tramesso in diretta e in lingua originale su MTV Italia nella notte tra domenica 24 e lunedì 25 agosto, a partire dalle 3.00 del mattino.
In lotta per l’ambitissimo premio “Video of the Year” ci sono: Iggy Azalea ft Charli XCX con “Fancy”, “Drunk in Love” di Beyoncé ft JAY Z, il tormentone “Happy” di Pharrell Williams, Sia con “Chandelier”, e il video che ha generato 696 milioni di click, “Wrecking Ball” di Miley Cyrus.
I precedenti vincitori della categoria “Video of the Year” sono stati Justin Timberlake con “Mirrors” nel 2013, Rihanna ft Calvin Harris con “We Found Love” nel 2012, Katy Perry con “Firework” nel 2011 e Lady Gaga con “Bad Romance” nel 2010.
Beyoncè sarà tra i protagonisti dell’evento. La popstar interazionale reduce dal tour mondiale sold out ovunque, si esibirà per la quarta volta sul palco degli MTV VMA. Beyoncè regina indiscussa in testa alle candidature con ben otto nomination tra cui quelle per Video of the Year,” “Best Female” e “Best Choreography, riceverà da MTV anche il prestigioso “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award”.
Sul palco come performer anche altre star di fama internazionele: Iggy Azalea che dopo la sua famosissima hit Fancy (ft. Charli XCX) e il suo featuring in Problem di Ariana Grande, torna all’attacco sul palco dei VMAs dove ci regalerà una performance da urlo di Black Widow, duettando insieme a Rita Ora. Un’altra performer degli MTV VMA 2014 è Nicki Minaj che non è nuova sul palco dei VMAs dove questa volta si esibirà in una performance super hot del suo nuovo singolo Anaconda. Minaj si è già conquistata due Moonman negli anni passati, uno nel 2011 per la categoria “Best Hip-Hop Video” con Super Bass e nel 2012 “Best Female Video” pcon Starships. Sul palco anche l’icona pop Taylor Swift due volte vincitrice del “Best Female Video”, l’artista 24enne è già salita sul palco dei VMAs ben quattro volte e dal 2008 continua a regalare momenti indimenticabili.
Dopo aver lasciato tutti a bocca aperta nell’esibizione degli MTV VMA 2013 con un medley di alcuni dei suoi più grandi successi, l’amatissima star e volto di Nickelodeon Ariana Grande torna sul palco degli MTV VMA 2014. Quest’anno Ariana si esibirà con il nuovo singolo Break Free contenuto nell’album My Everything, che sarà disponibile a partire dal 25 agosto, il giorno dopo la sua performance sul palco dei VMA. Oltre ad Ariana Grande, sul palco anche la super star Usher vincitore del Grammy« Awards e disco multi-platino, che dopo qualche anno di assenza dagli MTV VMA sarà tra gli artisti più attesi sul palco del Forum. Tra gli altri artisti ad oggi confermati ci sono anche la band pop-punk australiana del momento, i 5 Seconds Of Summer e i Maroon 5: la band si esibirà per la prima volta agli MTV VMA e sul palco riprodurrà dal vivo il video del singolo del loro nuovo album, “V.”, in uscita il prossimo 2 settembre, con la Interscope Records.
